7月31日 i give up.. :)I've succumb to the digital world and bought a legit version of kaspersky virus scanner. So sad, next thing you know it I'll be buying a retail copy of Vista. :(
Hmm...maybe it was because I just watched Die Hard 4 that finally made me buy it. I've been meaning to buy the virus scanner for awhile but never got around to it. I could feel my computer getting more and more infected every day and was kinda tired of giving viruses to all my friends...haha. (btw, die hard 4 is about cyber terrorism) back in BJwell..it's nice to be back "home". I guess Beijing is now home, ain't it? It definitely does feel more comfortable to be here rather than a place where I absolutely don't know how to read the signs and talk the language.
but it definitely was fun to be in Korea for two weeks and get to know a lot of different MBA students. I probably won't ever get that chance again. It was quite a unique opportunity. Not too short not too long. It was definitely beneficial to work on some class projects together and just live life together. It's only through these experiences do you get to really know someone. And when you travel with someone on the subway for 1.5 hours you definitely get a chance to just talk about "whatever". So I was talking to one guy and our "whatever" topic was about relationships in China/Taiwan. He actually had quite a similar background as me, asian born in north america, open to relationship with local girl. He's actually seeing a girl in Shanghai and it was interesting to hear his insight about how things were going so far with the two of them.
Ya, if you ever really want to get to know someone, just take a road trip with them and you'll be forced to talk to each other. I've done it a few times where it was just me and a friend. Ya, at times you do get on each other's nerves but in end you get to know each other a whole lot better.
anyways, back to present day. On our last day of the MBA camp we a party. (what kind of MBA camp would it be if we didn't have drinking?) It was quite fun to be able to have dinner with some of the University deans and upper MBA Management. So I think it was the MBA Dean who said "As a former CEO, chief entertainment officier, you definitely have to know how to drink. Last year when we had our end of camp party we drank the restaurant dry." (meaning they drank all the soju in the restaurant). I'm not sure if we acheived it this time, we were only able to stay till 9:30 because we had to take the uni. bus back to campus. I'm sure if we stayed longer we would have sucked the restaurant dry. It was funny, we made a toast during the dinner and the Dean insisted that all the glasses be "clear color". (in other words no other drink allowed except soju). We were drinking wine beforehand, so some people tried to get away with drinking wine but the Dean came around to make sure all the glasses had soju :) It was quite funny, because some of the Chinese students really didn't want soju but the dean insisted and they eventually gave in.
Anyways...it was definitely fun times in Korea. I'll post some pictures later this week.
7月26日 how you know when you've been "on vacation" too long...So how do you know when you've on vacation too long? when you have to start doing you laundry...not just once but multiple times.
ok..more complaining coming..
we're almost done our classes for this camp and they insist that they give us 3 presentations and 1 exam in the last 3 days....sweeeet.
You know what's even more sweet? I don't get credit for these courses so I have absolutely no incentive to perform well...only thing keeping me going is personal integrity and just supporting my teammates.
ugh...I hope I can get an early flight home...i'm tired.
7月24日 i hate being sickI've had this nagging cough that just won't go away. I've had it since I got here in Korea. I guess it doesn't help that I've been drinking, clubbing, staying up late and can't sleep.
Being sick away from home sucks...and I guess home these days is Beijing :) drunk petWell...today's class was taught by one of our professors from Tsinghua. So what do I get for being a "good" student in his class last semester?Extra attention all day...grreeat...I think he picked on me like at least 8 times during the lecture. Thank God I paid attention in class before, he just kept on referring to strategy class last semester. Anyways, he was teaching about entrepreneurship today..quite interesting, I think a lot of helpful notes for my possible business. oh ya, so now I'm like known as the guy who got drunk on the first day and I'm also Teacher's pet. So I'm the drunk pet. but classes have been interesting these days...it's especially fun when we have a CEO from a multimillion dollar company sitting in as a student. He's got a house in newport beach and invited us to stay there anytime :) He's a CEO and still has time to do a fulltime MBA...what a life. oh just found out that one of the organizer's dad is a Colonel for the Korea CFC (combined forces command). cool.
7月23日 the most important meal of the day...finally woke up early enough today to have a good breakfast...well didn't quite wake up early, just couldn't sleep. There was a stupid mosquito bothering me all night. It bit me like three times on the hand!!! Grrrr....
Anyways, back to breakfast.....breakfast wouldn't be breakfast without a good serving of Kimchi. Wasn't too bad, I think I could get used to eating Kimchi for breakfast.
sooo tired now :( class is about to start in 5 minutes. 7月21日 good ol' peer pressure.it's just amazing how peer pressure works..
So I'm in Korea right now for an Asia MBA camp. So our class is made up of students from all our the world studying in school's around asia.
A couple of us went out for dinner to eat....and eventually drink.
I think we had 8 people..representing France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Korea, and Taiwan.
So quickly it became a drinking event, one shot of soju after another. I think after 6 shots I tried to backout but then they brought in the "Drink for Canada!!" line. So I had no choice..
so..
"for Canada!"
"for the Queen!" 5 shots of soju and i think 3 soju bombs (beer and soju) later I was lying on the restaurant floor trying to gain my composure.
Canada was out for the night. 5 minutes later, Canada puked on the dinner table and continued the ordeal in the washroom.
New Zealand had a fight with the korean bbq hotplate and lost. New Zealand ended up with a battle wound on the nose.
Australia/Taiwan went home early and crashed.
Korea and France went to the bar afterwards and had no recollection of what they did that night the next day. (I heard France and Korea were hugging the waitresses and at one point kissed the other country on the cheek).
It was just regular day for Ireland :)
